Hello friend, happy Sunday! ☕️
Hope you're having a cozy and restful weekend. It’s the last Sunday of February, so I said it’s a great chance for some thoughtful reflection on how our month has been.
Treat this post as a cozy, Sunday letter. Feel free to enjoy this letter and activities with a warm beverage.
What I’m Drinking
Today, I’m enjoying a warm mug of Golden Milk, a healthful blend of turmeric and spices.
Here’s the recipe I use from Downshiftology. If you try this drink, let me know how you like it.
What cozy beverage are you drinking? Let me know. I love trying new brews.
Brew for Thought: Everyday Resilience
My February Reflections
This month, I found myself reflecting a lot on resilience, how it shows up in everyday life, in the people around us, and in the spaces we walk through.
Living near DC, it’s been frustrating to feel and see the political shifts happening in real-time.
The year started out cold, bitter, and gloomy.
February was a welcomed gift. This month’s resilient spirit brought new hope into these dark times.
Glimmers of resilience shined all month long.
Black History Month was loud and proud.
From powerful messages like Kendrick Lamar’s Halftime Show and Vice President Kamala Harris’ NAACP Acceptance Speech, to new intentionality for embracing self-care and local businesses.
My city’s determined undercurrent is returning. Peaceful protests, energetic street performances, and thoughtful murals and posters are popping up all around DC.
This week, I took a walk in the city and revisited one of my favorite museums, The National Gallery of Art.
My museum trip was yet another reminder of how to approach everyday resilience.
If you haven’t read my story yet, check it out to learn how people in the 1970s used photography to reclaim their image.
Art. Expression. Community. Self-care. These are all methods of resilience.
People may try to take things away from us, but it’s always possible to pour into ourselves and our communities.
Resilience is not just about pushing through. It’s about finding hope in the little things, the art, the people, and the stories that refuse to be erased.
